My daughter Ashley drew this picture of hearts growing in a garden in February 1993. It was a school project in her Kindergarten class at Annie Purl Elementary School in Georgetown, Texas. It was drawn on the unlined side of a 4″ x 6″ index card. On the lined side of the card, she wrote our address and put a postage stamp in the corner, then mailed it to us. What a cool idea, and I love the symbolism of hearts growing in a garden.
Hey Paul! Loving your blog and your book! I’m a kindergarten teacher at Annie Purl and was wondering if you remember who her teacher was. If she’s still there, I’d love to tell her about this. I know it would be a sweet memory! Love & miss y’all!
Thank you, Kasey! Ashley’s Kindergarten teacher was Kimberly Keller. I didn’t see her name on the Faculty & Staff page of Annie Purl’s website, but I did see that your Mom is also teaching there. How cool! I love and miss your precious family as well. Seems like it has been forever since we were all together in Georgetown. Oh, yeah, it HAS been forever! Take care.
